POSTPONED! Beyond Pretty Pictures 2020: Clinical Application of 3D Echocardiography in Pediatric Heart Disease
Details and Registration: Registration:
It is with deepest regret that I advise we are postponing the 4th Symposia/Workshop, Beyond Pretty Pictures 2020: Practical Clinical Use of 3DE in Pediatric Congenital and Acquired Heart Disease which was to be held in Edmonton, Alberta on April 24 and 25, 2020. A new date will be announced in the next few weeks.
Over the past few weeks, we have been monitoring developments related to COVID-19. With many institutions strongly advising staff, faculty, and students to restrict travel, we know that we cannot continue with this workshop in April.
We would kindly ask that if you have registered, to please be patient and wait until the new date has been announced before making any decisions regarding cancellation. We will be in touch in the few weeks.

Intended Audience: This course is designed for cardiologists, cardiovascular trainees, and cardiac sonographers who perform and interpret echo exams and wish to enhance their knowledge on clinical use of 3D echo in pediatric cardiology. No prior experience in 3D echo is required as the course is designed for new users as well as with cases to challenge experienced users.
Course Description: This workshop will provide a detailed review of the clinical applications of 3D echo in the evaluation of pediatric congenital & acquired heart disease, including the assessment of structural pathology, evolution & mechanisms of valve failure, myocardial function and its use in guiding intervention. Future directions in this exciting and rapidly evolving field will also be explored. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have a concrete understanding of basic principles and pitfalls of 3D echo with opportunities for hands-on data acquisition, processing and analysis. They will learn practical clinical applications of 3D echo in pre and post surgical assessments and planning. This is a rare practical symposia and workshop on the clinical application of Three-Dimensional Echocardiography in Children.
This is 2 days of lectures in the mornings, and practical hands-on live scanning and cropping of challenging clinical cases in the afternoon. Morning lectures are delivered by echocardiologists who are routinely active in the use of 3DE in their cath intervention and surgical programs. Participant numbers are limited to 50 to ensure maximal hands-on exposure, and each participant will have individual workstations during cropping sessions. This workshop is designed to accommodate new users as well as challenge experienced users. This course is most suitable for pediatric cardiologists, trainees and pediatric sonographers. The course is supported by both Philips and GE health care.’
