Placenta scanning protocols in the second trimester. Performing an ultrasound assessment of placenta size, placenta appearance, and Dopplers (uterine artery and umbilical artery) can help serve as an indicator of early onset intra
uterine growth restriction (IUGR) of fetuses in pregnant women with low plasma protein-A (PAPP-A).
This presentation will focus on ultrasound protocols for assessing the placenta between 18 to 24 weeks gestation. Objectives of the presentation will include:
• Learning the normal range of placenta size
• Assessing placenta appearance (normal versus abnormal; placental grades)
• Understanding what is considered abnormal when performing a Doppler assessment
