Join us for an immersive, in-person learning experience dedicated to Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound of the shoulder and elbow.
This focused, full-day workshop offers the opportunity to enhance your knowledge, refine your scanning skills, and gain confidence in performing MSK ultrasound exams under expert clinical guidance.

Pre-Workshop Learning
Prior to the in-person session, participants will receive access to a recorded lecture accompanied by multiple-choice questions. This lecture is based on the recommended reading and serves as valuable preparation for the workshop.

To get the most out of this learning experience, we encourage you to purchase or review the Jacobson textbook in advance.

Faculty
Dustin Pendergast

Dustin joined Camosun College in 2019 to develop and teach the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. He instructs students in general ultrasound procedures, sonography physics, gynecological and obstetrical and musculoskeletal imaging. Dustin brings with him over 20 years of diverse healthcare experience, having previously worked for Island Health as a volunteer, radiographer, sonographer, Leader of Ultrasound & Breast Imaging and Medical Imaging Manager of Quality & Operations. He holds Diplomas with honours from BCIT in Medical Radiography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography and he has always enjoyed teaching his fellow classmates and students the ropes of x-ray and ultrasound imaging. Growing up in Courtenay, Dustin has lived in Victoria since 1999 and currently calls Langford home. When he is not teaching at Camosun College, he spends his spare time camping, hiking and spending time with his two young daughters.
Stephan Tuomi

Stephan is an instructor in the Sonography program at Camosun College. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Victoria, he enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with his wife and daughter. In the early 2000s, Stephan pursued a career in medical radiography. After completing his training, he returned to school to specialize in general, cardiac, and vascular ultrasound. He also earned an undergraduate degree in technology management and a master’s in business administration. Recently, Stephan obtained the RMSKS credential through ARDMS.
In 2010, he became an applications specialist for GE, supporting ultrasound technology across western Canada. This career path gave him the chance to see the country and gain experience in adult education. In 2017, Stephan returned full-time to the health authority, working as a sonographer, instructor, supervisor, and program leader. In 2023, Stephan made the career move from industry to academia. He is excited to be part of the Camosun College team and is passionate about sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for ultrasound with students.
