Sonographers work in rural, regional, and tertiary hospitals nationwide. Common areas include abdominal, O&G, vascular, MSK, small parts and interventional ultrasound, plus paediatrics in some districts. Let us know your preferred practice area and any subspecialty interests when you apply.

Competitive salary, transparently banded

Sonographer salaries in New Zealand range from NZD $102,298 up to $173,000 (CAD ~$83,322 – $140,908) for Reporting Sonographers, set out on clear, published pay scales – so you know exactly what you’ll earn and how you’ll progress.

Your exact band depends on which collective agreement covers your role (APEX or PSA), with steps 1-5 progressing automatically. Add penal rates, on-call and higher duties on top where applicable.

What you need to work here

Be a current credentialed member of Sonography Canada who is eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) and able to hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) once registered. International applicants are assessed on qualifications, experience and fitness to practise.
