ROLE 

As the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory is responsible for improving patient quality and safety across Muskoka Algonquin Health Care.

Major Responsibilities

The Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory Manager is responsible for the coordination and provision of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory Services for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC).  The Manager will ensure that MAHC provides effective, efficient, and safe technological operation in compliance with all legal requirements and accepted ethical and professional practices expected in a diagnostic imaging and cardiorespiratory service in accordance with standards, policies and procedures of the hospital and all regulating bodies.  These functions are conducted in accordance with the directives of the departmental Medical Directors and Administration. The Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory Manager is responsible for fostering the collaborative working relationships necessary amongst staff, hospital departments, customers and Diagnostic Imaging Medical Director to achieve and maintain excellence in healthcare.

Planning and Organization

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises all functions of the Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory services within the departments and across all sites.
  • Prepares and implements short- and long-term planning for the departments.
  • Coordinates the work of the staff in each of the departments and works with other leaders to coordinate care to all patients in a seamless manner.
  • Works to enhance the competencies of clinical staff, support staff and allied health professionals working within the Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiorespiratory portfolio.

Financial Management

  • Prepares departmental budgets (operating and capital) which are then submitted for approval.
  • Monitors, analyses, and acts upon monthly financial and quality management indicators to ensure appropriate service and resource utilization.
  • Participates in the evaluation and purchase of products, equipment, and equipment service contracts as required.

Human Resource Management

  • Creates an environment that is conducive to high morale and motivates staff toward realization of departmental and organizational goals.
  • Responsible to promote staff learning, professional growth, and staff development.
  • Responsible to ensure creation of schedules that meet the requirements of the union contract but allow nurses the maximum work-life balance possible in a 24/7 and on-call environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Current registration with a Regulated Health Professional College, i.e. College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists, in Ontario, College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada with professional liability insurance
  • Health Management Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Recognized courses and certifications in leadership, or equivalent experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • Minimum of 6 years of current progressive professional experience as a Medical Professional in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of current progressive management/leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • Sound financial management/budgeting skills.
  • Ability to motivate and create a positive team.
  • Ability to adapt to and foster change.
  • Ability to organize and set priorities.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Excellent, proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to think critically and identify and develop solutions to problems.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

Location(s): Multi site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital in Huntsville (HDMH).

A significant portion of the work is conducted in the patient care setting. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is a multi-sited organization and there is a requirement for vehicular travel. The Manager will be expected to provide leadership at both sites and will be involved in activities and projects throughout the organization.

Department: Management

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements.

Conditions of employment for external hires includes;

  • Proof of immunization and vaccination records to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.

  • Clean Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check.
