Sonography Canada Bursary for the CAMRT Leadership Development Institute – Application
Sonography Canada is thrilled to offer a bursary to two (2) members to participate in the CAMRT Leadership Development Institute, November 6th to 8th, 2026. This bursary will cover admission, travel, and accommodations for the duration of the program, taking place in Ottawa, ON.
This 3-day event is designed to engage those who have demonstrated leadership potential. Participants in the program will:
- learn effective leadership and communication skills,
- learn about their own personal strengths and challenges as leaders and how to adapt their style to work effectively in different group or committee settings,
- learn how to effectively facilitate different types of meetings,
- gain an understanding of leadership within the profession, and
- experience national networking opportunities with their peers.
Qualities, Characteristics, and Attributes We Are Looking For in a Bursary Recipient:
We are looking for individuals who:
- Demonstrate positive interactions with colleagues, take initiative, know when to listen and when to share ideas, and have good communication skills.
- Are willing to rise to the challenge of new tasks and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Show excellent work ethic; are committed, hardworking and have long-term goals.
- Are confident in their abilities, make fair decisions when there is conflict, ask for the opinions of others, and bring out the best in others.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills – quick/efficient, creative, resourceful, positive attitude.
- Consistently set new goals, take on extra assignments and push themselves to improve.

- Confirmation that you have worked as a sonographer and have been an Active Member of Sonography Canada for at least five (5) years.
- Expression of Interest (200 words)
- How will this experience contribute to your future goals, especially in terms of fostering leadership development and advancement (200 words)
- Your non-technical resume (should include, but are not limited to voluntary activities, awards, committee/project experience, research, professional publication, leadership or educator role at work, education, and personal or professional development)
- Minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation including at least one (1) letter from an individual who will support your candidacy for this program. The letter(s) should include their support of your application into the Leadership Development Institute and why they believe you are an excellent candidate for consideration. Examples of who might be in a position of writing a reference letter for you may include, but is not limited to your workplace team leader, supervisor, or manager; the chair of a committee that you participate on; and/or a community leader.
