Course Objectives:
At the end of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the appearances of tumour recurrences, near misses and potential misinterpretations on breast surveillance imaging, in both average-risk and high-risk women with a history of breast cancer.
  • Discuss risk factors and treatment for women with breast cancer recurrence.
  • Highlight the indications for breast MRI in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer.
  • Review the role of MRI in women with DCIS.
  • Provide guidance when managing high-risk lesions at percutaneous image-guided breast biopsies.
  • Outline peer review steps tailored to breast imaging practices including effective stakeholder communication.
  • Discuss medicolegal concerns pertinent to breast imaging QA.
  • Describe the technique for multimodality triangulation in breast imaging.
  • Review a broad spectrum of interesting and challenging cases.
  • The CanMed Roles being addressed in this course are Medical Expert and Scholar.
