NEW! Volunteer of the Year Award

Description:

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes a non-elected volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, enthusiasm, and impact in their volunteer role at Sonography Canada. This award honors an individual whose dedication, skills, and personal qualities have significantly advanced our mission, fostered a positive environment, and inspired others.

Criteria:

1. Nominees must be Active members in good standing with Sonography Canada.
2. The nominee must demonstrate exemplary volunteerism and serve as a positive example to others while advancing the mission of the association
3. Recognition can be for a single or ongoing contribution
4. Current members of the Sonography Canada Board of Directors are not eligible for consideration during their term of office.  Nomination of a prior board member cannot occur until the candidate has left the Board.

Nominations Process:

1. Both members of the association, as well as Sonography Canada staff are able to submit nominations for this award.
2. Complete the nomination form
3. They must be able to provide a written essay (up to 1,000 words) outlining why the volunteer deserves this award, and may include qualities and characteristics such as:
   
   Commitment to Serving: Shows dedication to addressing the organization’s needs with persistence and a problem-solving mindset.
   Consistency: Provides reliable and regular support, contributing to the organization’s success.
   Listening Skills: Actively listens to needs and feedback, collaborating effectively with staff and other volunteers.
   Service Mindset: Approaches tasks with a positive attitude and readiness to serve.
   Flexibility: Adapts to changing needs and circumstances with a positive attitude.

Selection Process:

1. Review: All nominations submitted will be reviewed by the Sonography Canada Board of Directors.
2. Evaluation: Nominations will be assessed based on the criteria and examples provided in the essays. A pre-determine rubric will be applied during the evaluation process.
3. Decision: Select the Volunteer of the Year based on demonstrated excellence and impact.

Award:

Recipients of this award will receive:

• Certificate of recognition
• Sonography Canada membership dues complimentary for one year (excludes PLI).  This will be disbursed in one of the following formats:
  • If the member pays their Sonography Canada dues personally, the member can choose to either have their current membership dues reimbursed, OR receive their next membership year complimentary, excluding PLI.
  • If the members’ employer pays the members Sonography Canada dues, the member will receive the amount of the dues in the form of an e-transfer.
• Announcement of recipients will be made at the Sonography Canada Annual Conference, during the awards ceremony.
