Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an enthusiastic Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). The position requires standing for long periods, pushing and pulling stretchers and equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
As part of our collaborative Diagnostic Imaging Services team, you’ll gain experience in general ultrasound, the ECHO lab, and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic, performing both routine and complex scans vital to patient outcomes. Job Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Registered with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Successful candidate must have excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, push, pull stretchers with patients and equipment, and lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of computer applications and familiarity with connect care is an asset.
