The College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) regulates over 12,000 medical radiation and imaging technologists in five specialties: radiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance, and diagnostic medical sonography.

The CMRITO acts in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and the Medical Radiation and Imaging Technology Act, 2017 (MRIT Act). Our primary responsibility is to serve and protect the public interest by setting entry to practice requirements and establishing standards of practice for the profession, ensuring the continued competence of our registrants through our quality assurance program, and addressing concerns through our complaints and discipline process. CMRITO is seeking a Quality Assurance & Professional Practice Manager for a remote, full-time, permanent position.

This is a general description of the duties, purpose, responsibilities, and scope of the position; it is not an exhaustive list of all the associated duties, functions, and tasks.

About the Position:

Working under the direction of the Quality Assurance & Professional Practice Director (“the Director”), the Quality Assurance & Professional Practice Manager (“the Manager”) will manage the operations of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program to fulfill the CMRITO’s legislated regulatory requirements.

The Manager will provide education and information to registrants about the QA Program and support registrants in achieving compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and by-laws.

The Manager is also responsible for managing professional practice activities including advising CMRITO registrants on practice issues relating to the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and laws that affect medical radiation and imaging technologists, and providing education and information to help registrants and students improve their knowledge and understanding of the laws and standards.

The Manager will participate in collaborative policy development processes and support policy and guideline development and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director, the Manager is responsible to:

Quality Assurance Program:

  1. Organize, prepare, and coordinate the QA Committee meetings and provide ongoing support to the QA Committee including preparing agendas, reports, and materials for the QA Committee meetings
  2. Organize, prepare, and coordinate any QA Committee meeting action items, including drafting decisions and communications, following up with registrants, and updating records
  3. Participate in the assessment QA ePortfolios, as approved by the QA Committee
  4. Monitor and support registrants undergoing a QA assessment process
  5. Participate in ongoing QA Program policy and process review
  6. Contribute to the development and preparation of registrant guides and materials
  7. Operationalize communication strategies and distribution of information and materials to registrants
  8. Support registrants in meeting their professional obligations of the QA Program by responding to emails and phone calls
  9. Manage QA data within CMRITO’s database and compile quarterly and annual statistics
  10. Continually examine work processes and explore opportunities to improve efficiencies through technology, elimination, or altering of work processes and make recommendations to the QA Director

Professional Practice:

  1. Manage the intake of practice advice queries
  2. Respond to questions related to the practice of the profession from CMRITO registrants, system partners, and the public
  3. Advise, coach, and mentor registrants regarding the legislation, policies, guidelines, scope of practice, and standards, to promote understanding and assist registrants to meet their professional obligations to practise safely, ethically, and competently
  4. Provide educational information sessions, presentations, and resources as required
  5. Contribute to the development and maintenance of practice resources, including but not limited to the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice and other practice related guidelines, publications, and presentations
  6. Act as a resource to professional practice community groups
  7. Act as a liaison for professional practice support for education programs and students

External Relations and Support Services:

  1. Act as a resource person to other health care providers, the public, and external agencies regarding the legislation, ethics, standards, guidelines, and policies of the medical radiation and imaging technology profession and the QA Program
  2. Represent CMRITO on external working groups relating to QA and professional practice
  3. Assist with updating content for the CMRITO website, as required
  4. Draft standards and guidelines in consultation with other system partners to address emerging issues for review and approval
  5. Conduct approved presentations and workshops, teleconferences, and webinars to registrants, students, and other groups as needed
  6. Attend conferences as a representative of CMRITO to provide educational information and materials to registrants and system partners in attendance

Other:

  1. Support other CMRITO programs as required
  2. Support the Registrar and Directors in project management as required
  3. Support the achievement of the CMRITO strategic and operational plans
  4. Participate in implementing business continuity plans when necessary
  5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have an active certificate of registration with CMRITO in one or more of the specialties: radiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance, and diagnostic medical sonography
  • Must be a current credentialed member of Sonography Canada.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership capacity in an MRIT environment
  • Cross-specialty experience would be an asset, preferably in a variety of settings
  • Thorough knowledge of current issues in MRIT professional practice
  • Knowledge of legislation, CMRITO policies, guidelines, and Standards of Practice

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and relationships with system partners
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills to efficiently and effectively manage workload, meet deadlines, deal effectively with multiple demands, and maintain composure
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide guidance to internal and external partners with tact and diplomacy using good judgement and discretion, and defusing difficult situations as required
  • Good presentation skills required for education and training delivery
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with databases considered an asset

This role is a remote permanent full-time position. Candidates must be currently authorized to work in Canada and must reside in the province of Ontario. Some travel required to attend conferences, meetings, or to deliver presentations/education sessions.
