Join Sonography Canada for a full-day, hands-on learning experience focused entirely on the wrist joint and all the lumps and bumps associated with it. This immersive workshop is designed to help sonographers develop the confidence and technical skill needed to perform accurate and thorough wrist ultrasound examinations.

Through practical instruction and guided scanning, you’ll:

  • Refine your wrist ultrasound technique and image optimization skills
  • Review standardized wrist exam protocols and MSK terminology
  • Explore wrist-specific considerations such as tendon, ligament, and nerve assessment
  • Learn to recognize common wrist pathologies and sources of pain

Faculty

Sandy St Cyr

Sandy has worked as a medical diagnostic sonographer for 22 years. She is currently employed at UBC hospital where most of her workload involves performing MSK ultrasound.

She is the course lead for the MSK ultrasound micro-precedential program at BCIT, where she has developed the entire curriculum to teach the next generation of sonographers across British Columbia.

She enjoys hands-on teaching of sonographers and MSK fellows in the clinical setting and is an integral part of the Musculoskeletal Fellowship Program at UBC.

Samantha Yip

Samantha Yip is currently a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. She completed her Bachelor of Science at UBC prior to her Sonography studies at BCIT. After completing the MSK ultrasound micro credentialing course at BCIT and undergoing clinical training, her days now consist primarily of performing MSK ultrasound. Samantha enjoys working closely with her team at UBCH to continually learn and expand her knowledge in MSK imaging, and to train others in the same. She is passionate about providing guidance and support to other Sonographers.

Madeline Wiseman

Samantha Yip is currently a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. She completed her Bachelor of Science at UBC prior to her Sonography studies at BCIT. After completing the MSK ultrasound micro credentialing course at BCIT and undergoing clinical training, her days now consist primarily of performing MSK ultrasound. Samantha enjoys working closely with her team at UBCH to continually learn and expand her knowledge in MSK imaging, and to train others in the same. She is passionate about providing guidance and support to other Sonographers.

Mercy Lim

Mercy (Meixi) Lin is currently working as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at UBC Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital, where she performs a variety of general and MSK ultrasound examinations. She graduated from Red River College in Manitoba with a diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 2021. Mercy has a growing interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound and is dedicated to advancing her skills in this area. She is passionate about patient care, lifelong learning, and contributing to the development of MSK ultrasound practice in British Columbia.

Sandra Tom

Sandra Tom has a background in Kinesiology. She completed the Medical Diagnostic Sonography program at BCIT 5 years ago.  Since that time, she has been working at UBC Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital as a Medical Diagnostic Sonographer.  She regularly performs diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasounds at UBC Hospital and works closely with the MSK Fellows and Radiologists to make team-based decisions for the patient.
