Carotid Ultrasound
Carotid Ultrasound Continuing Professional Development: When a carotid ultrasound exam is performed by a generalist or cardiac sonographer, a consistent and standardized approach is critical for safe and accurate imaging studies. Developed by a team of vascular ultrasound experts, the Carotid Ultrasound course reviews the theory you need to know to perform a comprehensive scan of the carotid and vertebral arteries. In this self-paced theory-based online course, learning modules will guide you through the review of cerebrovascular anatomy and hemodynamics, and examination protocols.
You will review correlative imaging as well as carotid disease and pathology and treatment which will give you a better understanding of the significance and outcome of your findings. With 12 hours of video instruction, demonstrations, case studies and knowledge quizzes moderated by experts, you will put your knowledge to the test.
Please note: This didactic learning program must be re-enforced by clinical skills training, and does not certify or qualify the learner to perform carotid examinations. Ultrasound examinations should only be performed by sonographers in the specialties for which they have academic and clinical training, and in which they are credentialed or eligible to be credentialed. This learning program is one step in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and judgement to perform the related carotid exams.
We are committed to continual improvement. Please anticipate regular course updates and enhancement.
