Pay Rate: $41.83 to $46.27 + 19% in lieu of benefits

Summary:
The Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital is an 18 bed facility located in beautiful, rural Northwestern Ontario. Our catchment area includes the Municipalities of Red Lake and Ear Falls and Wabauskang First Nation. Our Hospital offers 24 hour emergency care, acute & chronic care, obstetrics, oncology, diagnostic services, rehabilitation, and a variety of day clinics. The community of Red Lake is home to approximately 5000 residents. The primary industries include mining, tourism, and forestry. Red Lake is accessible by road or by air. The town is approximately a 3 hour drive from Kenora and a five hour drive from Winnipeg (six hours from Thunder Bay).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a Canadian accredited ultrasound program
- Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada and/or eligible to be registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Maintain active registry status by obtaining the required 40 hours of CME credits each triennium
- Experience as an ultrasound technologist in a health care facility with experience in a variety of ultrasound imaging modalities and techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills required to work effectively with other members of healthcare team and patients.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Meditech, Microsoft programs, and PACs.
- Ability to work within the physical requirements of the position (i.e. constant standing and/or walking and heavy physical effort such as lifting/positioning heavy patients and operating equipment).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capable of performing all ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, pelvic, endovaginal, scrotal, thyroid, and obstetrical.
- Competence in venous leg doppler, carotid arteries, breast, and musculoskeletal procedures, though not required is considered an asset.
- Records preliminary impressions and sends images to PACS.
- Responsible for the quality of examinations performed.
- Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor; to differentiate artifactual from normal pathological processes.
- Works with patients independently and identifies urgent medical indicators within the scope of practice and can alert the physician of urgent patient conditions that could affect treatment or further testing.
