Research Proctor – Medical Device

World Health Research Inc. (WHRI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Device Proctor to oversee and guide the safe and effective implantation of a cutting-edge medical device involved in a clinical research trial. This role requires extensive travel across Canada to provide expert supervision in operating room settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ultrasonography and thrive in high-pressure environments collaborating with skilled surgeons and research teams.
This position is for a 1-year (12-month) contract, renewable for up to 3 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel on short notice to healthcare sites across Canada to supervise and support the implantation of the designated medical device.
- Ensure proper device implementation techniques are followed to ensure patient safety and efficacy.
- Provide hands-on guidance and technical expertise during procedures, particularly in the use of needle guidance using ultrasonography.
- Act as a professional liaison between the company and surgical teams, fostering trust and effective communication.
- Deliver in-depth training and education to healthcare providers regarding device use and care.
- Support the WHRI Study Team by completing monitoring activities.
- Support the Proctoring Team and the Study Sponsor through problem solving and contributing to regular study meetings.
- Supporting the recruitment of additional proctors, if required.
- Supervise proctors and proctor’s operation within a designated region.
- Support the development of proctoring methodologies and site management practices for each trial.
- Collaborate with clinical research teams as needed to support ongoing or new clinical studies.
- Document and report feedback from surgical teams to inform product improvement and training strategies.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited program in diagnostic medical sonography.
- Canadian Registered Vascular Sonographer (CRVS®) or equivalent.
- Extensive experience and proficiency in ultrasonography.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence and ability to interact comfortably with skilled surgeons and healthcare professionals in an operating room.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related area of study.
- Knowledge of or experience in clinical research studies.
- Proficiency in English and French.
