Making Your Case to Attend SonoCon

IF YOU WORK AS A SONOGRAPHER IN CANADA, YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR SONOCON 2024!

Attending SonoCon 2024 will be the best professional development choice you make all year, as it is THE national conference focusing specifically on education for the Canadian Sonographer. The informative keynote addresses, breakout sessions, hands-on workshops and networking opportunities will enable you to expand your industry knowledge, learn about emerging trends, share new ways to improve productivity, and enhance the practice of sonography as a key component of the healthcare team.

We understand that travel and training budgets will likely be constrained in 2024. The following are tips to support your case to attend our Annual Conference and Showcase.

Whether you participate in-person or virtually, you will leave the conference armed with the latest knowledge, strategies and tools. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet up with fellow delegates and exhibitors to catch up and brainstorm new ideas during the many program and networking events.

Tip #1

Focus specifically on what you will bring back to the organization as return for the investment, and how this will benefit your work. For example, what sessions will you attend and what immediate impact will they have on your work? What exhibitors will you visit on the Showcase floor and how will this help your organization? Which experts will you have access to and what knowledge would you bring back to share with your organization?

Tip #2

After the conference you will take valuable knowledge home with you. Offer to deliver a briefing to your colleagues and/or the management team to share what you learned so that others in your organization will directly receive the benefits of your attendance.

Tip #3

Share speaker handouts [when available] and other collected materials with your colleagues.

Tip #4

Be ready with a plan that shows who will cover for you while you are attending the conference.

Tip #5

Ask “what is the cost of NOT attending,” in terms of both your ability to stay abreast of new developments, opportunities and missing valuable tools, perspectives, and relationships that will help your organization anticipate, adapt, and take action.

Tip #6

Prepare a sample budget for the costs associated to your attendance. Submit with a cover letter to your manager. Samples of each are provided below.
