Your Q3-2024 – Membership Update

We are pleased to announce that we have established a relationship with Focus Mental Wellness, a platform providing access to online therapy services. Focus was a pioneer in online mental wellness services in Canada and has been providing access to licensed therapists since 2016.
All members will now receive a 15% discount on Focus services for video, text, and phone therapy. And, if your current health coverage within your workplace covers therapy, you can use this service and claim against your benefits!
Why Are We Doing This?
Based on our 2023 National Mental Health Survey in conjunction with CSMLS and CAMRT, the Mental Health Inventory shows that:
- 72% are reporting feelings of anxiety
- 79% are reporting depressive tendencies
- 71% are reporting that there is no access to stress management or stress reduction programs within their current workplace
- 43% reported looking for a new job within the year
With 65% of respondents claiming that they have too much work to do everything well, these statistics, while unfortunate, are perhaps not as surprising as they should be.
Of particular concern to Sonography Canada is the fact we have seen an increase since the first survey conducted in 2018 (12% in 2018; 25% in 2023) reporting signs of severe mental illness.
Stigma and other barriers can delay people from seeking help. That’s why we have chosen to work with Focus. We want to reduce those barriers for our members and provide an affordable, confidential and secure avenue for accessing the mental wellness support you deserve if, and when, you need it.
