The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) provides services to 33 First Nation communities both virtually and in-person, directly in the child’s home community. Our teams travel regularly to remote communities to provide collaborative, team-based care, working alongside local resources such as nurses, physicians, educators, and community-based workers.

Job Summary

The Northern Mobile Ultrasound Program delivers ultrasound services to First Nation communities in the Sioux Lookout area.

As a Mobile Sonographer, you will be responsible for addressing community ultrasound needs, improving access to care, and coordinating between service providers. You will perform and evaluate ultrasounds within college guidelines and work as a vital member of the Primary Care Team.

This role reports directly to the Nurse Manager of the Primary Care Team.

Qualifications

  • Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
  • Graduate of an accredited training program in Sonography.
  • Active membership with Sonography Canada and CMRITO registration required.
  • Minimum 2 years general ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Ability to do general ultrasound and small parts studies required.
  • OBS High Risk and breast imaging experience an asset.
  • Experience with PACS/EMR systems and strong computer skills.
  • Experience working with First Nations communities an asset.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues of a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout catchment area an asset.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel by various modes.
  • Must be willing to relocate and live in Sioux Lookout (or within daily commuting distance).
  • Ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.
