Your Q3-2025 Association Update: From the Office of the Chief Executive Officer
July 29, 2025
On June 22, 2025, Sonography Canada held our Annual General Meeting and Education Day — once again virtually — and welcomed nearly 1461 attendees. The AGM was an opportunity to reflect on a year of growth, recognize the contributions of our volunteer leaders, and report to members on the activities and impact of the association.
2024 marked a pivotal year in Sonography Canada’s current Strategic Plan (2023–2025). During the AGM, we reviewed progress across our four key strategic pillars: strengthening advocacy and representation for sonographers, advancing professional standards, expanding CPD offerings, and ensuring organizational sustainability. These achievements reflect a team effort — from Board leadership to staff execution to member engagement — and I want to thank everyone who contributed along the way.
Financially, reported a healthy surplus for 2024, which we are reinvesting in programs and infrastructure to support members with research, federal and provincial advocacy, leadership development, and major technology improvements. If you missed the Annual General Meeting and would like to catch up, I invite members to visit the recording in the Video Library.
Earlier this month, staff gathered to begin shaping the next chapter with an Operational Plan that will support a new Strategic Plan for 2026–2028. The planning process is informed by wide member input, stakeholder consultations, and the collaborative work of the Board and Strategic Planning Working Group. The new plan will reflect the changing needs of the profession and a clear commitment to delivering even greater value to our members and the Canadian healthcare system.
We look forward to sharing the final Strategic Plan with you later this year. Thank you for your continued trust, support, and belief in the strength of the profession of sonography and shared mission. Together, we are building a stronger future for sonography in Canada.
