Your Q1-2025 Association Update: From the Executive Directors Office
January 24, 2025New Year…new beginnings. First, I wish everyone a heartfelt Happy New Year and hope that 2025 brings health, happiness and joy to all of our members. Here are just a few things that we’ve started to work on for 2025.
Introducing Our New Provincial Manager for British Columbia: Kenneth Szeto, CRCS
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Ken Szeto, CRCS as he joins Sonography Canada as our regional manager in British Columbia. Ken’s appointment marks an exciting step forward in our mission to deliver enhanced member value that addresses national and localized issues. In his new role, Ken will work with the national office team to advocate for BC sonographers and the profession locally while supporting the unique needs of sonographers in the province.
Ken brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. As the Professional Practice Leader at Kelowna General Hospital’s Echocardiography Lab, he has honed his leadership skills while managing clinical operations, staff development, and patient care. His impressive track record also includes roles as a clinical instructor, cardiac sonographer, and active committee member in various professional organizations. Ken’s deep understanding of the sonography profession and his commitment to advancing excellence make him a perfect fit for this role.
What Ken Will Be Doing
As Provincial Manager, Ken will focus on several key areas:
- Member Relations: Ken will work closely with Sonography Canada’s BC members and national staff to connect with sonographers. He’ll spearhead outreach programs, coordinate educational activities, and foster professional connections throughout the province.
- Advocacy and Communications: Ken will collaborate with stakeholders and government representatives to raise awareness about the value of sonography to the BC healthcare system, and advocate for sonographers within the provincial government and other stakeholder groups in BC. He’ll ensure that the needs of BC’s sonographers are well-represented in the province and within Sonography Canada.
- Advisory Council Leadership: Ken will lead, support and rely on the input from an in-province Advisory Council which will identify address issues affecting sonographers at all stages of their careers and in all corners of the province.
Ken’s passion for mentorship and his active involvement in organizations such as the Canadian Society of Echocardiography and the British Columbia Ultrasound Society will also serve him well in this new role.
