Description:

The Rising Star Award celebrates the exceptional achievements and contributions of early-career sonographers who have shown remarkable potential and dedication to the profession. This award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through leadership, ongoing professional development, and active participation within the sonography community. By honoring these rising stars, Sonography Canada aims to inspire the next generation of sonographers to engage deeply in the profession and contribute to its continuous growth and advancement.

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Active credentialed members in good standing with Sonography Canada.
  • Candidates must have held one or more Sonography Canada credentials for 5 years or less as of the award submission deadline.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated:
    • Leadership: Evidence of leadership in clinical practice, educational settings, or within professional associations.
    • Ongoing Professional Development: Commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills through continuing education, certifications, or specialized training.
    • Involvement in the Profession: Active participation in professional activities, such as contributions to committees, involvement in advocacy, or volunteering for Sonography Canada initiatives.

Nominations Process:

  1. Complete the official Nomination Form [in English or French].
  2. Provide a written essay (250 to 750 words) addressing each of the following themes:

    Leadership: Describe how the nominee has demonstrated leadership within the sonography profession.

    Professional Development: Highlight the nominee’s commitment to furthering their knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training.

    Professional Involvement: Detail the nominee’s involvement in professional activities, including any contributions to the advancement of the profession.

Selection Process:

  1. Review Committee: A selection committee [Awards Committee] will review all submitted nominations.

    The committee will evaluate nominations based on the quality of the submission and how well the nominee meets the award criteria, using a predetermined rubric.

Award:

Recipients of this award will receive:

  • Award of recognition
  • Complimentary registration for the annual Sonography Canada conference.
  • Participation in the Sonography Canada awards presentation, with travel expenses covered as per the Sonography Canada travel policy, where applicable.
