Welcome, Layla Al-Asawi!
October 27, 2024Join us in welcoming Layla Al-Asawi to the Sonography Canada team as our new Exam Developer! We’re excited to have her expertise and passion as we continue to enhance our credentialing process. To help our members get to know her better, Layla has kindly answered a few questions about her background, what inspired her to join Sonography Canada, and what she’s looking forward to in her new role.
- Can you tell us a little about your background and what led you to your position at Sonography Canada?
I began my career in medicine but took a break to focus on raising my family. When I returned to the workforce, I found my passion in sonography, which allowed me to use my medical background and love for helping others. I’ve been practicing as a sonographer since 2013, and I’m a member of Sonography Canada and hold the CRGS credential. I’m also credentialed through ARDMS in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB) and Abdomen (AB). I’ve worked in different clinics and hospitals during my career. I also teach in a school for International Languages.
I have a passion for human anatomy, capturing images, teaching, and creating exams. I never imagined I could combine all these interests into one career, but sonography lets me do it all!
- What excites you most about joining Sonography Canada?
I’m excited to join Sonography Canada as an exam developer as it gives me the chance to help set national standards for the profession and be part of a dedicated team that values high-quality certification.
- What do you hope to contribute to the exam development process?
My goal is to contribute by ensuring our exams are fair, reliable, and up to date with professional standards.
