Description:

The Outstanding Mentorship Award honors current Sonography Canada members who exemplify excellence in professional leadership and mentorship, including their role as preceptors. These individuals act as advisors, experts who freely share their knowledge, and supportive colleagues who offer moral and emotional support. They are the members who inspire others and contribute significantly to the professional growth and development of their peers and students.

This award acknowledges mentors and preceptors who have made a profound impact by motivating their colleagues, advancing their skills, and unlocking their full potential, thereby enhancing the sonography profession.

Criteria:

  1. Nominees must be Active credentialed members in good standing with Sonography Canada.
  2. Nominees should be recognized for their role as mentors or preceptors, demonstrating leadership, knowledge sharing, and support within the profession.
  3. The nomination must include responses to the following questions, (response not to exceed 1,000 words):
  • How has the nominee inspired you or others in your practice?
  • How has the nominee contributed to your or others’ professional knowledge and expertise in sonography?
  • How has the nominee’s support created opportunities for you or others that might not have otherwise been explored?
  • Can you provide examples of how the nominee’s mentorship or preceptorship has positively influenced others in your professional community?

Nominations Process:

  1. Complete the official Nomination Form [in English or French].
  2. Provide a written essay (up to 1,000 words) answering the questions listed in the criteria, that demonstrate:
    a. How the nominee inspires others
    b. How the nominee has contributed to professional knowledge and expertise in sonography
    c. How the nominee has supported opportunities for you and for others
    d. Example of above.

Selection Process:

  • Evaluation by Awards Committee: The Awards Committee will evaluate nominations based on the quality of the submission and how well the nominee meets the award criteria, using a predetermined rubric.

Award:

  • Award of recognition
  • Complimentary registration for the annual Sonography Canada conference.
  • Participation in the Sonography Canada awards presentation, with travel expenses covered as per the Sonography Canada travel policy, where applicable.
